3rd Street Construction Support Grant

Businesses along 3rd street and cross streets (see map of area below) affected by the WYDOT 3rd street improvement project may apply for funding to support business promotion during the construction process. 

Businesses may choose from 1 of the following consultations which will be paid for by Laramie Main Street.

  • Amanda Jeffers of Jeffers Design: Social media set-up, paid ads, training, website assistance (notices on your website about the construction), other advertising - Cap 4 hours ($200 value) (Business responsible for cost of paid ads)

  • Haley Adkins of Social Spark: 2-3 short form videos to help communicate construction updates for your business to be posted on your business’s social media accounts, social media posting assistance, professional photos of business. Haley will be researching & strategizing for your business, shooting and editing the content, and delivering content for you to post. ($200 value) (business responsible to post videos to social media)

  • Rachel of Poppy’s: Get help planning an event at your business - setting up an event budget, finding suitable vendors, how to invite customers, collaborating with other downtown businesses. This would be a great opportunity to get customers in your business during construction or throw an appreciation event after construction. ($200 value) (Business responsible for event costs)

Process:

Business must fall within the blocks highlighted in blue as shown on the map here:

First round open until May 15th - Additional rounds open as funds are available.

Awarded on a first come first serve basis each round (business must meet location requirements and fulfill all grant requirements). Please allow one week for application reviews and notice of award.

Deadline to schedule with a consultant is within the first two weeks of acceptance (event, social media, etc. do not need to happen in that time frame but you must touch base with the consultant within the first two weeks to discuss your project and agree on a timeline or funds will not be awarded).

All work must be completed by September 30th, 2025

Cash prize of $500 will be awarded to one participating businesses in each of the following categories:

  • Most most enthusiastic outreach about construction (Amanda is your consultant)

  • Most viewed reel/tiktok video (Haley is your consultant)

  • Most creative customer event (Poppy’s is your consultant)

Selections of winners to be made at the October 2025 board meeting by LMSA board. You must complete all steps to be entered into the competition

Past Grants

Downtown Payroll Grant - Currently closed

Locally owned, brick and mortar businesses, and their employees, are hurting from the effects of Covid 19. In order to assist the businesses in the downtown district (Laramie Main Street’s services area as defined in bylaws, see this map) with payroll expenses, Laramie Main Street has partnered with United Way of Albany County, ANB Bank, The Mortgage Source, Ivinson Memorial Hospital, and individual donors to provide a second round of payroll grants.

Timeframe:

Funding for this round of grants is expected to run out quickly - applications are open until February 22nd. Applicants can request up to $1,000 in payroll expenses. Funds will be distributed the week following the close of applications. 

Requirements and Considerations:

  • Businesses will be required to recognize this grant publicly on their social media feeds by thanking and tagging Downtown Laramie Wyoming, United Way of Albany County and the sponsors identified below. See this tutorial for instructions on tagging on Facebook.

  • Funds are for payroll expenses for employees. 

  • Preference will be given to businesses that are following the current health orders and whose sales decreased significantly in 2020. 

  • Funds may be audited.

Applications are easy - simply fill out the google form with required information! Should take about 15 minutes or less.

Restaurant Payroll Grant

Locally owned, brick and mortar restaurants, and their employees, in downtown Laramie are hurting from the affects of Covid 19, current health orders and reduced dine in traffic. In order to assist the 36 restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, bars and breweries within the historic district (Laramie Main Street’s services area as defined in bylaws, see this map), with payroll expenses, Laramie Main Street has partnered with United Way of Albany County, Blue Federal Credit Union, Toyota of Laramie, Premier Bone and Joint, Trihydro Corporation, and UniWyo Federal Credit Union to create a “Downtown Restaurant Payroll Grant”.

Timeframe:

Eating and drinking establishments are encouraged to apply for grant funds before December 31. The goal is to disperse the majority of the funds by the end of the year. Any funds unapplied for and remaining in January of 2021 will be opened up to retail and service establishments located in the historic district.
