The culinary dish I chose that is fully based from Colombia is bandeja paisa. My mother and her family are immigrants from Bogotá Colombia. So growing up many of the foods I was brought up with are based from Colombia. I remember every time I would visit my abuela she would always get bandeja paisa ready for my family and I and it always felt like home for me. It was a welcoming dish in which we would all sit down and talk in Spanish. It’s also a dish that reminds me of the special fact that I am a part of a mixed family. During these meals in which Spanish was the only language being spoken, I would always translate to my dad so he could be a part of the conversation.
