Laramie Main Street Alliance (LMSA) is seeking a creative, community-minded Communications Coordinator to develop marketing campaigns that tell the unique stories of Downtown Laramie. This position promotes our memory making events, showcases locally owned businesses and celebrates the preservation and revitalization of the historic district.
Position Overview
Job Title: Communications Coordinator
Location: 103 E Grand Avenue, Laramie, Wyoming (Hybrid / In-office & community outreach)
Hours: 20 to 25 hours per week/flexible schedule
Salary: $30,000 to $32,000 a year
Benefits: Flexible work schedule, comp time, 14 paid holidays, 10 paid vacation days in the first year of service, 8 hours of paid sick leave per month, and a Savings Incentive Match Plan for IRA retirement contributions
Key Responsibilities
Year Round Messaging: Utilize social media, video, website, e-newsletters, press releases, traditional print and digital campaigns to market downtown experiences, shopping campaigns, special events and LMSA as an organization. Track when LMSA and Downtown Laramie are in the news.
Business Support: Update and maintain database of downtown businesses, business welcome booklet, and online resource list. Support businesses with welcome posts/features, one-on-one and team coaching regarding their marketing and communications strategies.
Staff Liaison to the Design Team: Support the Design Chair (a volunteer position) in hosting monthly planning meetings with community volunteers, coordinate the Facade Grant program, point of contact for partner organizations (i.e. Laramie Beautification Committee) working on Design projects downtown. Facilitate committee work planning and budgeting that aligns with LMSA’s mission and transformation strategy.
Special Event support: Maintain marketing checklist for event committees (run by volunteers), organize digital event folder with sponsor tracking sheet, marketing budget, brand guide and Canva login. Train, delegate to, mentor and empower marketing interns and volunteer storytellers. Ensure that event sponsors are recognized.
Administration: Market and track use of the downtown gift certificate program, develop and track marketing budget, participate in bi-monthly staff meetings and monthly reports.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Background in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Design, Non Profit Administration or related field. 3 - 5 years of professional experience is preferred.
Passion for Community: A strong personal interest in grassroots community engagement, supporting locally owned businesses, volunteerism and the work of non profits
Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Collaborative Self-Starter: Ability to work independently AND with a dynamic group, manage time efficiently, try new things, and take initiative on creative projects
